These are the terms for using this site and engaging Sentient Staff. Written to be understood. Last updated 5 August 2026.

What Sentient Staff is

Sentient Staff is an independent talent partner that places, shares, and grows AI ethicists. We are a recruitment and staffing business, not a certification body. We do not certify anyone or issue credentials.

What we evidence, and what we do not

  • We evidence a practitioner's competence for a specific role against our own framework, informed by the wider standards landscape it sits inside, among them EN 18274:2026, the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, the OECD AI Principles, and, where relevant, AIGP, in whichever combination actually fits the sector, geography, and risk in front of us. That is professional judgement, not a certificate, and not a guarantee of outcomes.
  • We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, CEN, UNESCO, the OECD, IAPP, ISO, or any other standards or accreditation body. These are named because they are the published reference points we assess against, not because we are endorsed by any of their publishers.
  • Anywhere on this site that describes what any of these standards or frameworks cover, that description is our own summary, in our own words, written for hiring conversations. It is not a reproduction of their text. An organisation relying on any of them formally should read the published original directly.

Using the site fairly

  • Submitting a brief or a profile means the details are yours to share and you are not breaching a confidence.
  • Do not bulk-scrape the site to resell or repackage its content elsewhere, misrepresent our service as a certification, or present a match as an endorsement of a product. This does not apply to search engines and AI assistants reading the site normally to answer a question, that use is welcome.

Content and copyright

  • The words on this site are © Sentient Staff. You are welcome to quote, link to, or summarise a page with attribution, including when that is an AI assistant answering a question about us.
  • What is not permitted is republishing a page wholesale, presenting our writing as your own, or scraping the site to resell or repackage its content elsewhere.

Fees and engagements

Fees are payable by the engaging organisation, set out in a separate engagement agreement. Practitioners are never charged. Specific placement terms, guarantees, and replacement provisions live in that agreement, not here.

Liability, honestly stated

We work hard to match well and evidence fairly, and we correct mistakes openly. We provide this site as information and cannot accept liability for decisions made solely on it. Nothing here excludes liability the law does not allow us to exclude.

Sentient Staff introduces and evidences; we do not direct or supervise the work. Once an ethicist is engaged, the ethical judgements they make, and the decisions an organisation takes in response, are the responsibility of the engaging organisation, not Sentient Staff. The people we place advise, with the reasoning shown; the decision, and accountability for it, stays with your organisation's leadership.
